Summer may be upon us but it’s still the time to think ahead when it comes to getting material printed for the Winter and Christmas rush.
That’s the message from the owner of North East print and direct mailing company Alastair Smith, who runs Print & Mail Runner, which is based in Hexham, Northumberland.
Long experience has led Alistair to counsel against last minute decisions when it comes to having materials printed.
He said: “I know it’s Summer and everyone is thinking about their holidays in the Sun but I have already done designs for a couple of Christmas brochures.
“It really is not too early to think ahead when it comes to events like Christmas. Planning ahead is so important, especially over Summer when printers experience a lull and have the capacity to press ahead with work.
“I have lost count of the number of last minute jobs I receive, events that people have known about for a long time but which we end up turning round for them in 24 hours.
“We can do that but it does not make sense for the customer because the later a print job comes in the more expensive it will be whereas a bit of advance planning would make it much more cost-effective and also take away the stress associated with last minute jobs.
“I know Christmas seems a long way off and people do not like talking about it too early but they really will benefit in the long run from a bit of planning ahead.”
